Corrosion protection in offshore environments
Seawater, salt spray and constant humidity are some of the most demanding conditions a component can be exposed to. Without the right protection, corrosion quickly attacks the surface – and a component that fails offshore is expensive to replace.
Therefore, the requirements for offshore items typically lie in the high corrosion classes, often corrosion class C5 and above according to ISO 12944. The more corrosive the environment, the more resistant the surface treatment must be.
We build the corrosion protection according to the corrosion system the task requires, and adapt the layers to both the item and the environment in which it must function. All desired corrosion systems can be met, and we document and report by agreement, so you can be sure that the item meets the specification.
The right method for the task
Wet coating for offshore items
For offshore applications, wet painting is usually the right choice. The method provides a dense, continuous surface that effectively protects against corrosion, and it can be adapted to complex geometries where other methods fall short.
We primarily wet paint with reaction-curing systems such as epoxy and polyurethane and build up the coating in the layers required by the corrosion class. Wet painting is done manually with different equipment, so we can adapt the treatment precisely to the individual item.
We process items in steel, metal and plastic – and have capacity for items up to 9500 x 3500 x 2400 cm at our own workshop in Horsens.

Documented quality
FROSIO-certified quality assurance
The quality of an offshore surface treatment is determined in the details – and for most offshore tasks, it is not enough that the treatment is good. It must also be able to be documented.
That's why we have our own certified FROSIO 3 inspector in-house. FROSIO is a recognized certification for inspectors within surface treatment, and this means that inspection and control of your item is done according to a fixed inspector standard - without the task having to be sent out of the house.
For you as a customer, this provides impartial control and documented quality that you can vouch for to your own customers. We report by agreement on the corrosion system and the requirements the task is defined based on, so there is no doubt that the item meets the specification.
